KIRK TALLEY

COLLEGIATE REP| KTALLEY@FCA.ORG |   (651) 592-3571

FCA has been a part of most of Talley’s life, from going to sports camps with his dad to huddle meetings in high school and college to being a part of marriage retreats and working at FCA sports camps. He has always been a sports fan and participant, growing up just 3 miles from Metropolitan Stadium and the Met Center in Bloomington, MN.

As a high school athlete he participated in football and track and was track captain his senior year. He played college football and then began his coaching career. He is a coaching veteran of 40 years with 25 of those years as a collegiate head coach at 5 different institutions.

His longest stint was as head coach at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul. He left Northwestern with the most wins in its history, a 112-51 (.687) record, and best winning percentage, including a 90-21 (.810) conference record. Under Talley's leadership Northwestern appeared in six bowl games and a NCAA III play-off appearance. Talley began his head college coaching career as a 28-year-old, winning the conference in just his second year as head coach. Along with coaching football, Talley has six years of experience coaching track & field and 20 years as an assistant professor of physical education. He taught a variety of courses, including Elementary Physical Education, Motor Learning, and Sport in American Society. Though he loved coaching, and teaching, his greatest joy was seeing the students he coached and taught grow and mature as men and women of God.

A graduate of Pacific Lutheran University. While there he was mentored by two legends, Hall of Fame member Frosty Westering and Dr. Colleen Hacker, professor, and six-time Olympic games mental skills coach. He obtained his Master of Arts at Miami University, Oxford, OH, while a graduate assistant.

Talley is married to Terri, and they have two daughters and four grandchildren. Though he has a number of life verses, Proverbs 4:23 ‘Above all else, guard your heart for it is the well-spring of life’, touches many aspects his life.
