DAVID MELMS
GREATER TWIN CITIES METRO DIRECTOR DMELMS@FCA.ORG | (414) 218-6776
David Melms is originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He moved to Minnesota to attend Macalester College, where he played both baseball and football while studying economics. His passion for sports combined with his love for Jesus Christ led David to help start the FCA huddle at Macalester in 2010.
Since graduation, God has continued to lead David in ministry through various chaplain roles and leadership within the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as the Twin Cities Collegiate Director. David now serves as the Greater Twin Cities Metro Area Director for FCA, where he is focused on advancing the gospel through sports ministry across high schools, colleges, and communities in the metro area. His leadership reflects a vision to see disciples making disciples on every athletic team and campus in the Twin Cities, and to help launch athletes and coaches into a lifelong walk with Jesus.
David lives in St. Paul—within walking distance of several local campuses—with his wife, Laura, and their two children: daughter Sage (born September 2021) and son Louis (born December 2024). His life and ministry remain rooted in his belief that sports can be a powerful platform to transform lives for Christ.
