My name is Madison Caswell and my experience with FCA in high school greatly impacted my life then and now. When I was a freshman at Andover High School, I got involved with FCA through my sister Emily, who helped lead our school’s huddle. I had the opportunity to be part of a Christian community that I didn’t realize I could find in our public school and felt very encouraged and inspired to become more involved.
After attending FCA for a while and understanding more about it, I decided to apply for a leadership position. I was beyond blessed by the Lord’s timing and the ¬¬experience I was given. At the time, FCA was restructuring the ministry model to focus more on discipleship. I was able to lead under this new model and it helped me to grow my faith even more with the other leaders in the group. We met regularly with mentors that equipped and empowered us to lead our own small groups. The amount of support that was poured into us through the mentors and leadership team was unlike anything I’d experienced. It really encouraged me to feel more capable in my leadership skills and spiritual gifts.
I was blessed with an amazing group of girls to disciple and together we learned extremely practical ways to apply scripture to our day-to-day life. We were able to use the Word of God to encourage each other in our struggles and build relationships with one another. Because of this, FCA easily became the best part of my week.
FCA is what made my high school experience so impactful and memorable. I grew so much in such a crucial stage of life. It taught me how to be more disciplined in my faith and have the motivation to build relationships with other believers. It continues to impact my faith to this day through the spiritual disciplines I still carry with me. It helps me stay connected with God. It helps me look for fellowship opportunities wherever I go and motivates me to build relationships with people in my church and community. I continue to look for guidance and mentorship in my own life.
Everything FCA has taught me has helped me to always search for and desire a deeper connection with Jesus, and through the love that he has for me, I am able to better love those around me.
