Let's meet a few of these sweet Lakeview athletes who went to Northland FCA Sports Camp last year. We'll hear a little about their camp experience, some of their takeaways, and their encouragement for you or someone you know to go!

I went into camp a little uneasy about choosing a sport that none of my friends did which meant I would be rooming with a "stranger." I quickly realized that God had bigger plans in store for me and the people I encountered, starting with my roommate. I had to trust that God was leading me exactly where He wanted me to go. We shared many aspects of our personal walk with God with each other and, to my surprise and excitement, found ourselves to be fast friends!

As far as sports are concerned, camp helped my focus to shift. I needed to stop focusing on “being better” or “being the best” and instead try my best, have fun, and put my focus on God. For me this looked like praying before each game and thanking God for the opportunity to play the sport I love.

Northland FCA Sports Camp has strengthened my walk with Jesus by helping me to trust that wherever He leads me is good. I can't wait to go back this summer! Northland Sports Camp is the best!

I learned about true forgiveness during my experience at Northland FCA Sports Camp. We all have sin that needs to be forgiven. It's important to remember that your mistakes don't define you, Jesus does, and He is willing and ready to forgive you!

I also learned that even when things don't turn out as expected, God is still working! You may be struggling in your sport, in school, or at home, but God has a plan for you and His plan is good!

Attending Northland Sports Camp is a great way to learn about all that Jesus has sacrificed in order to save us! I left camp with a closer friend in Jesus and am looking forward to strengthening my faith in the Lord through FCA Camp again this year. I can't wait to go back and be surrounded by people who live their life for the glory of God!

Attending Northland Sports Camp taught me the importance of being a Christian leader. It starts with an open heart, an encouraging word, and actions that match. My huddle leader encouraged me to read the Bible every day in order to grow my personal relationship with Jesus and upon heading home, I felt so much closer to God. Not long after I returned home from camp, I chose to get baptized. My experience at camp helped solidify my decision.

If you're someone who is considering going to camp, but unsure about if you'll have fun, YOU WILL! When it came time to leave camp, most of us would have preferred to stay even longer. Camp will teach you about a personal relationship with Jesus and show you what that can look like through huddle time, worship, and sports. No matter where you're at right now God is able to make masterpieces from broken pieces. Believe it. See you at camp!

The Lakeview athletes who attended Northland Sports Camp last summer had the chance to learn how to be the teammates God calls us to be while being challenged to grow their skills in sports. One of the things emphasized at camp was being a player who focuses on inspiring your teammates. That means not getting down on yourself or others, cheering each other on to do your best, and keeping the glory of God at the center of your game.

Coach Missi Loe encourages the athletes she coaches to go to Northland FCA Sports Camp because of the positive impact FCA camp had on her own children. Camp is fun, interactive, and transforming!

"Most of the girls who attended camp were on the 8th grade volleyball team I coached in the fall. They went undefeated that season and were a really fun team to both watch and coach. The energy and tenacity they bring is helping to build a program. They are a good group of girls who push each other in practice and play together as a team, holding each other accountable in their conduct on and off the court.

What a joy to see these girls become more consistently involved in our Lakeview FCA Huddle. Going to camp as a coach gives me a unique opportunity to help steward what camp was able to demonstrate to these athletes when we come back home."
