Natalie's FCA Story

Natalie Schwartz • December 16, 2024

My name is Natalie Schwartz, and I regularly thank God for how He has changed my heart through FCA!

I first got involved with FCA as a freshman in high school. My friend Amanda, personally invited me, and I was so excited about what God would do with that. I enjoyed having an opportunity to talk and learn freely about Jesus with others who were just as willing. I got to know Amanda and her sisters better and continued attending huddle meetings with them for the remainder of my freshman and through my sophomore year. Going into junior year, I was told that I should consider being a Huddle Leader and I immediately said yes; attending FCA and getting involved in meaningful discussions with dedicated Christians lit up my daily life in a way I could never have anticipated.

FCA has introduced me to so many new perspectives from people who came to Christ in various ways. Because of that, I've seen Jesus in every aspect of my life: in success, in hopelessness, and even in the mundane. He is my source of peace. This exposure to how Jesus works on my heart through every situation I encounter has been heavily influenced by FCA.

I attended FCA LEADership Camp with the three other Huddle Leaders from my school because we all wanted to learn how to be more intentional in our discussions and prayer. It's not easy to convey the depth of my entire experience at camp because God so beautifully altered my understanding of my life through the teachers and fellow student leaders that I had the privilege of meeting. The part that still brings joy to my heart is the opportunity I had to hear the powerful testimonies that belong to people I now consider close friends. I was also given the opportunity to reflect on my own journey with Christ and share my testimony while simultaneously mapping it out more honestly than I ever had. This was the first time I had fully admitted to the walls that were preventing me from fully surrendering my life and purpose to God and His will.

The unconditional support that I received at camp inspired me to become more confident in the leader that God carefully designed me to be. My life is no longer blurred by the fear and shame that it once was, and I owe that all to God's work through FCA. My goal as a Christ-centered leader is to care so deeply for people so that they can feel Jesus' love through me in the same way that I did through the many incredible people involved with FCA.

Thank you for your role in supporting the ministry of FCA so it can be a blessing to student-athletes like me!
